WP: Vanden Brandon LP:
Cody Milliken
Game 1 today was a good game in most regards for your
Lumberjacks. WE played our best defensive game thus far and hit the ball well.
WE even saw our first home run of the season as Alphonzo Rigby hit a two run
shot in the third inning. However, the tale of this game is again about not
getting out of innings and walking batters. When we play like we did in this
game the only thing that can beat us is ourselves and unfortunately that was
the case in this game.

WP: Frank LP:
Greg Thompson
DCB Highlights: Turner 2-2 BB, RS
Rigby 2-3
Game 2 was a rematch with Marian JV who dismantled the Jacks
earlier this week 22-2. Today WE put forth a much better effort against Marian.
In an effort to slow their great offense WE put our ace on the hill and Greg
Thompson did not disappoint with 6 strikeouts in 3 innings of work.
Unfortunately WE could not make the plays WE needed to keep them off the
scoreboard. As the box score shows, WE hit well and had a lot of opportunities
with men left on base. Overall, WE showed great improvement from our first matchup.
The Jacks will play their 6th game tomorrow
against Carroll College JV. Despite the setbacks on the scoreboard Coach Berube
and I are impressed with how far our TEAM is coming on the field. As WE move
into our last game here in AZ and head home, WE look to continue to improve
every day. Although the scoreboard has not gone in our favor yet, WE have never
once told our TEAM the expectation is victories right now. WE tell our TEAM to
do the little things right and the scoreboard will take care of itself. WE know
that WE will turn this program around, but like all great things in life it
will take time.
Thank you and GO JACKS!
Coach Martin
