Mon 9/23 v. LRSC

Hello Lumberjack Fans,

When we began fall practice there was one question in mind, "How do we go from where we are now to where we want to be?" We have not reached our destination, but this past Monday we took another step towards where we would like to be with two more exhibition victories over Lake Region. The first game was one that makes the coach very pleased as your Jacks were on the winning side of a 10 run rule winning 12-2. We had a solid game all around and had a stellar pitching performance by Brett Hebel who threw all 6 innings and struck out 11.

The second game was much closer and showed just how much heart our team has. The Jacks gave up a run in the first inning and trialed by that score throughout the game until the last inning when our captain Cody Brooks sparked a rally with a pinch hit double off the wall. After that we were fortunate to get some timely hits and had a few breaks go our way as we scored 3 runs. In this game we had another complete game performance on the mound, this time from Cody Milliken who held the Royals to no runs in the bottom of the last inning with the bases loaded to preserve the 3-1 win.

Besides the two wins we had one extraordinary performance as our centerfielder Adam Denny stole home TWICE! Overall, the coaches were very pleased with what we showed in our fall schedule and now look to the offseason training program to build on the foundation that is beginning to come together. It truly is a new era for Jacks baseball and we will continue to build this program into something we can all be proud of.

Thank you and GO JACKS!

First exhibition games

Good Morning Lumberjack Fans,

Yesterday our baseball team had its first look at game situations as we played Lake Region State College in two exhibition games. I am proud to say that our team was able to win both games. In the first game we fell behind early 2-0 and roared back behind Greg Thompson's 15 strikeouts to win 7-3. The second game started very similar with the Jacks falling behind 2-0 but again we battled and wound up winning 7-4. From day one, we have been talking about doing the little things to bring Lumberjack baseball to a new era and yesterday was a good first step. Our team is very happy with the results but we know we still have a long way to go to be where we want to be this coming spring. We would like to thank all the fans that came to our games and showed their support.

The Lumberjacks will be in action again this Friday September 13th at 2:30pm as they take on the 2000 Lumberjack baseball team that will be inducted into the DCB Hall of Fame this weekend.

Thank you for the support and GO JACKS!!!
