WP: Brett Hebel                     LP:Schill
In game 1, the Jacks came out really flat and one big error allowed the Royals to score 5 in the second. However, the Jacks rallied behind the pitching of Brett Hebel and were able to battle back. The game seemed to turn in the 5th inning when Brett Hebel helped his own cause and hit a 3 run home run to break the game open. When the game was close at the end the Jacks called upon their ace Greg Thompson to come a close the door which he did and the Jacks survived and advanced to play Williston later that day.

In game 2, the Jacks again came out flat allowing 7 runs through 4 innings and not getting much going at the plate. In the 7th inning the Jacks bats came alive and WE were able to score 2 in the 7th and 8th. Unfortunately it was too little too late for the Jacks but because of the win earlier in the day the Jacks were able to play on Saturday against BSC.

In game 3, the Jacks came out of the gate clicking on all cylinders with 8 runs through the first two innings. However, the Mystics showed a ton of heart and did not quit in their pursuit of keeping their season alive and took the lead 9-8 in the 4th. The Jacks were reeling but were able to battle back and take the lead. Nick Riglin came in and shut the door which put the Jacks into the final three.

WP: Bullock (No hitter)          LP: Cody Milliken
In game 4, the Jacks ran into an incredible pitching performance as the Williston pitcher threw a no hitter. The Jacks played solid defense but when you can't hit it is nearly impossible to win. In the end the Jacks were able to get 3rd in Region 13.
Overall, I am so proud of this team to win 5 games this regular season and 9 in the school year which is an incredible turn around from 3 wins last year.  I would like to thank our 6 sophomores Adam Denny, Greg Thompson, Cody Brooks, Connor Drewry, Cody Milliken and Alphonzo Rigby you 6 are destined to do great things in this world and I am proud and honored to have been your coach. With our returning 9 and recruits coming in the Jacks will look to make the next step next year and challenge to win the region and make it to districts for the first time in a lot of years.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported us form our incredible fans who traveled as far as Tucson, AZ to watch us play to my great assistant coaches. None of what WE accomplished this year could have been done without the support that was given to us throughout the year. WE have started a new era of DCB Baseball and I am so honored to be given this opportunity to be the coach.
Thank you and GO JACKS!

Tournament Time (Why Not Us?)

As the regular season has come to an end the Jacks sit at 3-21 and are the four seed in the region XIII tournament this weekend in Williston. As of late the TEAM has started to use the phrase Why Not when talking about being successful. For a long time things have seemed pretty bleak for the Lumberjacks Baseball program but as WE head into regionals WE BELIEVE WE can and will be successful. Many may ask, why WE have such high belief after only winning 3 games. To this question our reply will be simple, WHY NOT!

When the tournament comes around anything can happen and all WE can do is give it our best shot and let the pieces fall where they may. Whether WE don’t win a game this weekend or win the tournament Coach Berube and I are very proud of this TEAM and how far WE have come since our first game in Tucson. WE have seen our share of ups and downs but WE have always put our heart into every game and practice and that is a success.
Thank you and GO JACKS!

Coach Martin

In game 1 on the weekend the Jacks finally were able to put all the pieces together and get our first win of the season. However, we did not make it easy on ourselves giving up two runs on mental errors that had us needing a 2 run rally in the bottom of the 7th. But this team has always shown heart and did again as we were able to pull through and come back and eventually win the game in 8 innings. A performance of note in this game has to be Greg Thompson pitching all 8 innings to get our first win.

Game 2 the Jacks came out slow defensively giving up two runs in the first but battled back with the bats and tied the game. From then on it was a war of attrition and nobody could break through until a tough play in the outfield allowed the Royals to score two. The Jacks found themselves in a position to play the spoiler role again with the bases loaded and no outs in the bottom of the 7th however an amazing catch and two strikeouts allowed the Royals to defeat the Jacks in this game.

Game 3 the Jacks came out with their best first inning to date scoring 3 runs and jumping on Royals pitching right away. The game stayed close for a while until a timely home run by our captain Cody Brooks allowed the Jacks to finally pull away and win this game.

Game 4 the Jacks outdid the first inning from the previous game and scored 4 in the first. After three innings the Jacks had accumulated 7 runs. From then on it was the break out performance of Nick Riglin on the mound that let the Jacks win their third game on the weekend.

Overall, we showed a lot of heart this weekend. As a coach I am proud of the performances we had as we never stopped battling. I would like to give Lake Region a lot of credit as those were 4 really tough games and a bounce the other way and they could have easily won all four. However, after a season where we seemed to hit the ball right at people we were able to finally break out of our shell and hit the ball. Our top three batters in our order did exactly what they need to do and that is get on base and drive in runs. When the top leads the rest of the team follows.
